How nice it is to be done with the empiricists. (It might be out of the frying pan and into the fire, however. We'll be starting Kant fairly soon, which, by all accounts is pretty tricky.) The tutor asked my section, at the end of seminar, which empiricist (Locke, Berkeley, or Hume) we would prefer to go out to dinner with. I said Hume, because I found his writing style the most palatable of the three, but then it was pointed out to me that 1)Locke actually believed in some real things (knowing things went kind of down-hill after his essay) and that's kind of a plus and 2)he's definitely the easiest on the eyes out of the three and he has his own hair (based on the pictures on the cover of the book). It's what's inside that counts, right?
